Religon and Society

What do religions do in our lives? Not just believers of gods, but atheists too?
Well, they all have different aims, but here is what lies underneath their Holy Books.

1.Convert Atheists into believers of THEIR God.
2. Make Money, in a disguised form. (Oh yes, this money you are donating will be used to fix this ancient chapel (Woohoo, Champagne for me tonight))
3. To make sure that their Religion is the one most popular in their country

Society and Religion are like two big gangs. So you have Society (Science) and Religion.

But there's only one crucial difference.

When a scientifically proved theory is proved wrong, a new theory is created soon after. But when a Religion is proved wrong, it dies out.

When Religion and Society clash, (Think Musilm Extremists) terror is born.

So, why do believers of (a) God/s, do so?
What evidence have they got?
They criticize the Big Bang theory as being Blasphamy, but what about themselves?
We state the we believe that Religion is an illusion, and we get told that we are 'disrespecting theor beliefs', but they seem to see it as okay to criticize OUR beliefs.

Okay, okay, I have no problem with Christians, Muslims ect., but I don't believe that there is a god.

But what can we do in this society we live in? Absolutely nothing.
Because this century is full of assholes, bullshit, and morally incorrect things.

Religion and science has managed to live alongside each other for many centuries, and most if not all of us hope it stays that way.
Both parties try to defend in their beliefs, morals because that is how they think, that is how they were bought up. It is neither wrong nor right. Religion does not die out completly, it is just done in a much more subtle way.
They critisize the big bang theory, but science critisize adam and eve. Only extremist make a full public crtisize otherwise its fine. As long as all scientist and religious believers are not extremist the world is fine. Your blog was very biased, very one sided point of view.
And if the world was all science then people wont have something to hope for, to believe in, to have faith in. Think of the thrid world countries, why do a vast majority have a religion?

The vast majority have a religion because they want to believe that some robed guy in the skies is 'guarding' them from AIDS, HIV and all things bad.

They only have hope, so they rely on it. Society here is much different.
I'm being biased, because of the impact our society has on us. I'm not talking about, 3rd World countries, where Hope is the majority of people's only way of surviving.

No, I'm talking about the more developed, and in some aspects, more civilized countries. While the countries like Ethiopia have a more primitive way of living, in some aspects, it's better. They're more natural (Read Rant on Material possessions).

Science and Religion are never in perfect balance. There is, and always will be, problems in this world, may it be the suffering of 3rd world countries, the political debate on religion, the weight of our corrupted society as a burden on one's shoulders.

Religion and science haven't been together too long. Well, not aspects of it like, 'The Big Bang Theory'.

The 21st century is a dark one.

    To conclude this,
I say Religion and Science will never work alongside, unless one of them accepts some of the opposing arguments statements. Perhaps if you suppose there really IS a god, but the earth was made by the 'Big bang' theory. That would be balanced, and thus I wouldn't have to rant.

Whether it is a developed country or a thrid world country, everyone needs faith, hope and something to believe in.
Religion and science are working alongside each otehr right as this moment, because if it wasnt then there would be a third world war right at this minute.
Religion and science is like oil and water, it floats gently above the other, never coliiding.

    But there is.
We have the 'War on Terror' which is a disguised war name for, 'War on Religion'.

Ok then ... time for my comments (~L~)
first of all yes a very biased blog, but then again i guess he does have some grounds for what he is saying. I will admit that wars have been caused by religion, but i will say that i believe that if religion did not exist i think there would have been even more wars, more crimes and more injustice in this world. Based on how i think religion has guided people, yes sometimes that religion will have an opposite effect theres no helping that but overall i believe religion has been there for the better whether it be true or false.

But i must say how little of your blog i can fully agree with .. apart from maybe abit of the "Make Money, in a disguised form" but i do agree that "this century is full of assholes, bullshit, and morally incorrect things" although i would put it in different words personally.

But i would like to comment on; "But what can we do in this society we live in? Absolutely nothing." now i dont believe in that, what can we do? Everything.
dont believe me im guessing, we who are selfish need to change the society, the way we live ... even the world. one person can change the world ... if you dont agree with that then you are denying all the great deeds that great men and women have done in the past, which would be wrong to do i personal think. secondly, even if its one person .. its that group of people that think the same idea which changes the world, if you dont think that way then your the other group and do you think this will help the society in any way?
